We worked pretty hard to offer some specific insights relating to the various types of work injures we most commonly see in Pennyslvania Workers Compensation cases, but we know we've stopped far short of the goal of having commentary for every type of injury or every type of claim.

Many of the injuries we see in our practice are commonplace, and very often the reactions of the insurance carriers and the employers can be fully predicted -- in that many employers and essentially all insurance adjusters strive to treat each and every claim as if the only consideration is the cost to them, and the outcome for the injured worker is at best a minor consideration. If they can get you back to work, regardless of whether you are suffering or whether you can still compete in the work-place with healthy, uninjured folks willing to take over your job, they count themselves done. Employers may be happy to take you back after a work injury, to avoid the costs of workers compensation insurance increases, but may keep you just long enought to find an excuse to terminate your employment in favor of a worker who has no lingering injury, who carries no risk of aggravation or increased insurance premiums.

Whatever your injury, it pays to be very wary of the treatment you will receive from your employer, the workers compensation insurance carrier, and the doctors they may try to send you to. Their interest is in closing out your claim, not necessarily in making you better or in avoiding long-term damage to your ability to earn a living -- so long as they can make it not their problem.
